Ok - time for something a bit different as an end of year special
We've talked a lot on this channel about how to get military procurement right - but to close the year out, I thought it would be fun to flip the script and have a go at coming up with ways to deliberately get it wrong.
CONGRATULATIONS - You are in charge of military procurement for the fictional state of Emutopia in 1946. Your official job is to buy the best aircraft possible for the air force in order to prepare for an invasion of the neighbouring state of Kiwiland.
Unofficially, you are a Kiwi sympathiser, and your task is to deploy every trick you know to make sure Emutopia buys awful kit - while not giving anyone reason to suspect that you're sandbagging the force on purpose.
The challenge is simple, and owes a lot to the old concept of the fictional state of Elbonia and its storied history of military procurement that many of you would be familiar from past forgotten weapons content.
So here's what's going to happen - someone else ( @AnimarchyHistory volunteered) gets to select some bad kit, exaggerating its bad qualities if they want to. If he tells me a spitfire has a max speed of 150kmph then I'll sell it based on its unique stability as a gun platform. Whatever we're dealt, my job is to tell you how we can try and sell it...
Let the procurement commence.

Reading and Sourcing :
Emutopian Procurement Doesn't Need Sourcing.
For once, this section is unnecessary. By the rules of the game, the performance characteristics of the aircraft as described in the Animarchy sections have to be taken as ironclad truth and all examples of procurement errors or malfeasance are obviously purely hypothetical with no implied real world equivalents.
Caveats & Comments:
All normal caveats and comments apply. In particular – I would like to note as always that this material has been created for entertainment purposes and is not intended to be a complete or comprehensive examination of the topic in question and should not be relied upon to inform financial or other similar decisions.
Any content relating to the conduct, views, activities or any aspect of any person or character in this video is included for entertainment purposes and does not represent an assertion of fact on those matters or any matters in relation to that person or character.
But above all, this one was a bit of a silly end of year episode. It is meant to err towards being funny while also exploring ways procurement might get skewed. Please do not take it as a full or complete thesis on the aircraft covered and enjoy it for what it is.
