My review of the RatRig V-Core 4 IDEX 500. I purchased this machine myself. Since posting this video Ratrig has responded with an additional support email, and I am including it here to be transparent:
"This is REDACTED_NAME, manager at Rat Rig, my colleague REDACTED_NAME escalated this ticket to me. Hope I can help provide clarification:
- All our MGN carriages are rated as Z0 (zero preload)
- The markings at the back are unrelated to the preload rating. They often differ between carriages
- It is expected that 2 carriages on the same rail will have slightly different resistances. This criterium in isolation is not enough to determine the rail is out of spec, as long as it's not binding
- For this reason, REDACTED_NAME is concerned that you have an expectation that doesn't match the reality of the stock we have in-house, and you will have the exact same complaint on your replacement rail. This is why he is proposing a more objective test.
- I disagree with your claim that you should not have to prove this is a problem. We need objective criteria for warranty activations, otherwise we're basing it on opinions or impressions that may easily come from a place of unrealistic expectations about what the specification needs to be.
Hope this provided added clarity, we're still available to replace your unit if you're able to prove it's faulty, of course."
and here's my final response:
"Hello REDACTED_NAME,
Thank you for the clarification, those details are helpful.
At this point this back and forth has crossed a time/cost threshold for me and I will fix this on my own. I will add your response to the review so others understand they will need to provide detailed proof of issues (using tools made for such measurements which they might not have, beyond video evidence), especially in the case of zero preload carriages that are very visibly sticking on the rail."
Here's a follow up response from Ratrig (in the comments of this video at

"Hi, Sonat from Rat Rig here! With regard to the sticky MGN carriage, I believe our tech support didn't get the chance to direct you to our troubleshooting steps, they often fix the issue. I tried to paste the link here but I believe YouTube deleted my comment, but I can send it via e-mail, or you can search for the “Linear Rail Troubleshooting Guide” on our Dozuki docs. While we appreciate the frustrating experience, we fully stand by our stance to not replace parts until we determine the root cause of an issue. Our 10 years of experience show us that many issues come down to incorrect conclusions from users or assembly issues, so cooperation with troubleshooting is an essential part of the process. We know users find it grating, but it's still the right thing to do, otherwise we may end up reshipping everything the user wants without fixing any of their problems. We ALWAYS reship parts that are PROVEN to be faulty if the user cooperates with troubleshooting. So, even if there's a few QC problems here and there, your warranty protects you fully. With regard to the remaining feedback, while we don't agree with every point, we appreciate the input and are always working on continuous improvement as we receive customer feedback. You can rest assured that every point brought up will be reviewed by our team. We recognize that IDEX documentation, in particular, is still lacking, and I am happy to share that we have been working on a fully revamped commissioning guide, offering a lot more detail than the current version, which hopefully should be ready to be published over the next few weeks."
