SCOTUS allows Trump admin. to take steps to implement end to birthright citizenship
The Supreme Court has just announced the birthright citizenship case opinion, with a 6-3 ruling, following party lines. This means Trump’s executive order curtailing birthright citizenship will be allowed in certain states but not others. MSNBC Legal Correspondent Lisa Rubin, former U.S. Attorney Chuck Rosenberg and University of Michigan Assistant Professor of Law Leah Litman join Ana Cabrera to break down the ruling, noting Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson called it “an existential threat to the rule of law” in her dissent.
