Bournemouth Model Railway Exhibition 2025 part 1 - Saturday 8th February 2025
Welcome back to the channel! This was my first ever visit to the Bournemouth show, which is organised by the East Dorset N Gauge Group. Having seen videos on YouTube of previous years shows, I really wanted to get to this event this year. This was held at the Hamworthy Social Club, Magna Road - which to me is in North Poole, but locals might call it North Bournemouth! Anyway, next year its moving to a new venue, which I believe is in Kinson. There was a very good balance of traders and layouts - and there were some traders I dont get to see that often, so an expensive day ensued! Layouts that are featured in this part, are as follows: Ins and Outs - An N gauge layout by Stuart Farmer. 2 interwovan figure of 8 circuits in a space of 8ft x 3ft. Penworth - A GWR branch line terminus by Mark Butler. The modelling on this N gauge layout is very Pendonesque, with amazing detail and scaled down versions of buildings that feature in Pendon's Vale scene. Brief Encounter - An end to end OO gauge layout by Dawn Quest. The layout is in monochrome, recreating the era of the black and white railway movies. Fairwood Junction - Steve Jones' latest real location OO gauge layout. The famous location, just to the West of Westbury, is where the station and avoiding lines meet / part - depending if you are travelling down or up! Close to my heart, as my day job involves controlling the real thing! Benbridge - Owned by the East Dorset N gauge Group, this long N gauge layout has 4 tracks running through a station, situated somewhere on the edge of the Cotswolds. Ambleton Vale - Another N gauge layout from Ray and Anna. This layout is an end to end branch line terminus, featuring many different scenes to keep you enthralled for ages. The layout features digital sound, plus station announcements and a noisy livestock market! I also really like the racecourse that features. Tan-Y-Llyn - A 4mm scale, OO9 narrow gauge layout with a strong Ffestiniog Railway influence, the layout features at its heart, a mini Aberglaslyn Pass section. Again, some stunning modelling makes this layout very attractive to observe. Love Lane Stabling Point - An O gauge diesel era depot layout by Andy Floyd. Set in the Western Region during the 1970's, the thing that really sets this model apart is the weathering detail applied to the locomotives. Just look for the shabby Warship at the end of the footage. Somewhere in France - A 4mm scale World War 1 layout featuring a OO9 narrow gauge railway. The layout works from one end to the other - from the trench systems at the battle front, through a devastated town, to a field hospital, headquarters and Royal Flying Corps airfield, at the end. Incredible detail, some of which really highlights the horrors of warfare. Kaninchenbau - A firm favourite of mine and a layout which appears in a good number of my films. Presented by Iain Morrison, this HoE gauge rabbit warren layout runs 5 trains at a time and is controlled by a computer. Trying to work out which tunnel a train you are trying to follow will emerge from, isnt always easy! Finally, Tadnol Nuclear Transfer Sidings - Based on the former Winfrith Sidings near Wool, this OO gauge layout is presented by Tom Purse. The layouts operation centres around shunting the incoming / outgoing flask traffic within the sidings complex. So that is part 1 of the film. Part 2 will follow very shortly. I hope you enjoy my efforts at trying to capture footage from each layout at this particular show. Please fell free to comment, share and like. Engaging with my channel really helps me get my content out to a wider audience, so I really appreciate it.
