Betty Thompson The Perry

This is a story, seen through my eyes, of Bennett Brook Railway's green steam locomotive, BT1 "Betty Thompson" built by Perry in South Australia in 1939 for the 2 foot gauge North Queensland Sugar Industry. Most of the footage, which is in High Definition, dates from 2011 and 2012, with a small glimpse into 2017, as well as a bit of standard definition from 2009. As the video was shot over two steam seasons (winter here in Western Australia as summer is too hot) a sharp-eyed observer will notice some differences; for example, Betty will be observed wearing two whistles, one appearing to be a single chime, and the second a triple chime. At times she will have the number "1" on her tanks. She also sometimes leaves her headlight at home, and has a newly painted smoke box. Her diesel helper also changes the colour of its side roads and balance weights.
