Actress and activist Liz Carr in conversation with playwright Christian O’Reilly In a society where disabled people are often told they’re ‘better off dead’ than disabled, Liz asks: “Should we really be giving more power to end that group of people’s lives?” Whether we call it assisted dying, assisted suicide or euthanasia, the practise of a medical professional assisting a person to end their life, has long provoked debate. Actor and activist Liz Carr recently made a documentary Better Off Dead? for the BBC on assisted suicide. In this talk she discusses the topic of assisted suicide, how it relates to and affects disabled citizens, challenges assumptions and shines a light on the many grey areas in this often one sided debate. Liz Carr starred in Unspeakable Conversations, which was written and directed by Christian O’Reilly and with whom she is in conversation with. Enjoyed this talk?
