✅ Bee Fondant Fail: Don't Try This at Home
I tried my best to make bee fondant.
Fondant is a soft icing candy many beekeepers use to feed bees in the winter and springtime.
The recipe I used is tried and true, but it takes very accurate temperature and very accurate cooking times for it to come out properly.
Here is the recipe I used:
10lbs sugar
4c water
10 tsp lemon juice
Boil on the stove at 248 for 15-20 minutes....let cool to 180°F and then use a mixer for as long as it takes to get the desired consistency (pancake batter).
Then pour into molds.
I followed the recipe as best I could, but the result was more of a sugar taffy than fondant....which is too difficult to cut.
This was a fail...I tried it twice with the same result...well the 2nd time its color was brown and you are looking for bright white, so that was a total fail.
This is a very time consuming process. I will stick to mountain camp or sugar bricks from now on.
