BEACH HOUSE | HEDKANDI RETURN TO THE CLASSICS

Hedkandi is returning to the Classics in this special classic Hedkandi Album series. All original compilations, compiled by Hedkandi's founder Mark Doyle now available in an official mix, with the original artwork. Following the original release order, this is the ninth compilation by Mark Doyle and the first in the Beach House series. Welcome to the latest edition in the Hedkandi series If you pay attention to life, you notice that every so often you have a “moment” . This is a small period of time where the general stresses of day-to-day life are forgotten and your situation, surroundings, etc. give you a feeling of complete contentment. If you have an active social life in club land you may have had a few more than other people … and the more jaded and cynical of us tend to get them less frequently as we get older and adopt a “been there, seen that” attitude. Last year I visited Ibiza after staying away for a few years due to the general commercialisation of the island. My hosts on the island were Tony and Jason who are involved in running of Ibiza Towns’ Rock Bar and made sure I saw the real Ibiza. One such place was Salinas Beach and it was at a bar called Sa Trincha that I experienced one of those few and far between “moments”. While sitting at a perfect bar on a perfect beach with an assortment of Ibiza characters we watched the sun go down and the DJ played an unbelievable track that fitted the moment perfectly. On my return to work one of the first promo envelopes I openend contained a CD from Naked Music called Music & Wine by Blue Six. Imagine my delight when it turned out to be the very track I heard in Ibiza and so I began planning a compilation that captures the mood of a summers’ afternoon on the beach and here it is! Over the last few months Naked Music and their unique style of soulful, laidback house has gained more and more followers and it’s their music that forms the backbone of this CD. Tracks by Blue Six, Petalpusher and Lovetronic fit the mood perfectly and I think the label is heading for major success this year. Luckily we have our own answer to Naked Music - The Rurals. They have just released an album on Peng records and “That Feelin’ “ is a prime example of their superb style of jazzy vocal house. After that it was a case of slotting in suitable tracks from the wealth of great material our favourite labels are releasing. Soulful remixes from Irma, cool jazzy workouts from Compost and and a remarkable reinterpretation of Santessa’s “Just When I Needed You’ by Joe Claussel. To finish we add a dash of Latin from Peppermint Jam and a sun soaked track from new band Factor 15. Hopefully this album will give you a taste of perfect moment on the beach - Hedkandi style! Enjoy!
