Building Control Systems consist of input devices, controllers, and controlled devices. Input devices can be sensors (like temperature sensor, humidity sensor) and contact closures or switches. The output device's examples are valve actuators, damper actuators. Controllers can be mechanical devices or DDC controllers. DDC controllers are microprocessor-based controllers that are fully programable through software. Control Systems have open-loop systems and closed-loop systems. Closed-loop is most commonly used in the Building Management System(BMS). A thermostat is a combination of temperature sensors and controllers. Room temperature control using a thermostat is an example of the closed-loop system. Control systems have many types which include: Pneumatic Controls, Electric Controls, Electronic Controls, and Direct Digital Controls or DDC controls. In Building Management System(BMS) Direct Digital Control or DDC control is used.
