After death, the soul enters a realm called Barzakh — not part of this world, nor the afterlife, but something in between. Islam teaches that this waiting world is real and active. The righteous rest in peace with open gates to Jannah, while the wicked face punishment according to their sins. Souls of believers may meet and recognize each other in Barzakh, while others remain isolated by their torment.
Described in the Quran and Hadith, Barzakh is where the journey of the soul continues. Some hadith describe the Prophets alive in their graves, praying. Martyrs live in green birds under the Throne of Allah. Dreams of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ revealed punishments in Barzakh, showing a reality beyond what the living can see.
Using the lens of M theory, string theory, and Islamic metaphysics, Barzakh can be understood as one of the extra dimensions curled with our reality — a hidden layer of existence between this life and the Day of Judgment. The idea of Barzakh as a dimension fits with modern physics concepts like the multiverse, parallel dimensions, and higher realms.
This video explains what Barzakh is in Islam, how the soul travels after death, and how scientific theories like M theory give possible insight into this waiting world. It brings together Islamic cosmology, the grave dimension, and the soul’s journey through Al-Barzakh — a space that is both spiritual and real.
