In this walking tour, we find out exactly how it became the thriving tourist hotspot it is today. Bardolino was once an unremarkable fishing town on the shores of Lake Garda, often overshadowed by the likes of Lazise and Torri del Benaco. However, after being taken under the wings of the Republic of Venice, it began to flourish. By the 1800s, this town was producing what was to become one of Italy’s most famous grape varieties, Bardolino DOC. Today, therefore, the streets that were once lined with stinky fishing boats are now lined with premium boutiques, authentic local craft stores, wineries, and many, many restaurant patios. As day turns to night, crowds gather in its pastel-hued Old Town streets to shop, dine, and sip wine while string guitarists softly serenade them in the background.
