Band Aid - The Making Of The Original 'Do They Know It's Christmas?’ (New Documentary, 2024) [4K]
"The Making of Do They Know It’s Christmas?" This film pieces together the Sunday in November 1984 when artists including Tony Hadley, Paul Young, George Michael, Bono, Phil Collins, Sting and Boy George gave up their one day off to record a song they hadn’t written, with lyrics they hadn’t seen and a backing track they hadn’t heard. All to raise money to alleviate the famine in Ethiopia. This had never been done before and it changed the way musicians used their influence, forcing politicians to take seriously the idea that music can change the world. It did, and this film is a snapshot of how it all began. The footage has been in storage for almost 40 years and much of it is included here for the first time. Original footage directed by Nigel Dick Produced by Jill S. Sinclair. #bandaid #liveaid #live8 #bandaid40 #dotheyknowitschristmas #bobgeldof #midgeure ================================================================================= BAND AID - How the Money is Spent In the financial year to 30 November 2024 Band Aid has awarded grants of £3m across 16 projects to date.
