Backpacking the Steens Gorges Loop in Eastern Oregon

After attempting this trip three years in a row, and failing, my buddy Phil and I finally get out to the Alvord desert and the rugged gorges of Big Indian and Little Blitzen, near Steens mountain in Eastern Oregon. The beauty is breathtaking but a grueling climb and decent of the canyon headwalls leaves us questioning our ability to complete the hike.
