Andrew Millison - Permaculture Site Research and Design with Free Software Tools
Andrew Millison, of Oregon State University, has been providing permaculture knowledge to hundreds if not thousands of students over the years, through online classes and his YouTube channel. His work is inspiring in how he demonstrates the use of readily-available free-of-cost technology to map, plan and witness the changes on a piece of land. Here he shows us some of his system placing graphical layers over Google Earth to study and plan for all sorts of landscapes. Andrew is also an avid traveler, having a miniseries on his channel dedicated to traveling India and witnessing first-hand the successful communal water projects being undertaken there. His own homestead speaks volumes to his skill at planning, given how he includes such a wide variety of abundant yields in a relatively small suburban plot. We hope you enjoy this as yet another great discussion in our Drylands Permaculture series! https://www.permaculturerising.com/andrew-millison https://workspace.oregonstate.edu/course/permaculture-design-certificate-online https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgb_TbreMgfDdLKkr4yYJHw The Drylands Permaculture Course was arranged and conducted by Michael Pilarski and Penny Livingston; this on-site 10-day intensive involved over 40 participants at Skalitude retreat near Twisp, WA in the Methow Valley. Zoom arrangements, tech support, audio post-processing and editing by Brendan McNamara with Zoom assistance from Jonathan Sekerak.
