What's covered in this session?
0:00 - Intro
01:10 - What steps should you take to manage and secure WSL installs? I saw the announcement at Ignite around the new Defender plug-in for WSL which is in progress.
06:15 - I'd like to deploy WSL along with pre-reqs and a Linux distro to my workstations in an automated fashion via ConfigMan or Intune. I can get things to work if I am logged to the workstation as local admin but for some reason the same scripts fail when deployed via ConfigMan or Intune. Any tricks or suggestions?
08:15 - System administrators are charged with keeping all computers patched and secured at all times. What tools are available to them to keep WSL installations, which are essentially computers running Linux, updated as promptly and comprehensively as we do for our Windows machines?
12:00 - I have IOC to block some domains. It's working on host (win 11) but not working on the WSL instance (ubuntu 22.04). Defender plugin is installed. Is this expected behavior for the WSL instance?
15:25 - It seems as though WSL won't install via UAC - the interactive logon session needs to be signed in directly with a user that has admin rights. Will this be fixed soon? This breaks using anything else to enable WSL, e.g. ConfigMgr, PowerShell/PowerShell Direct, and probably also Intune.
22:25 - What kind of effort is being put into optimizing resource consumption by WSL?
22:00 - Will this be made available on Windows 10?
