In one video. 10 minutes. Let's go! Today, Darren will review all the content you need to know for the AP U.S. History Exam (APUSH), such as how Native American societies thrived before 1491 with diverse cultures, and how European contact—especially the Spanish—triggered the Columbian Exchange, disease, and colonization. As British colonies formed (1607–1754), regional differences emerged: the North focused on religion and commerce, the South on cash crops and slavery, while mercantilism and salutary neglect let colonies self-govern. The French and Indian War (1754) left Britain broke, leading to new taxes and the cry of “No taxation without representation!” sparking revolution, the Declaration of Independence, and eventually a Constitution after the Articles of Confederation flopped. Jefferson’s election in 1800 led to expansion like the Louisiana Purchase, while the Market Revolution reshaped the economy and reformers—fueled by the Second Great Awakening—fought for abolition, temperance, and women's rights. Meanwhile, sectional tensions over slavery grew, exploding into the Civil War (1861–65), which ended slavery via the 13th Amendment but saw a messy Reconstruction era that failed to protect Black rights long-term. The Gilded Age brought rapid industrialization, robber barons, and union strikes as immigrants flooded cities, while farmers formed the Populist movement. Progressives like Teddy Roosevelt took on corruption, women got the vote, and the U.S. emerged as a global power through imperialism and WWI. After the 1920s boom came the 1929 crash and Great Depression, answered by FDR’s New Deal. WWII made the U.S. a superpower, leading to Cold War tensions with the USSR, proxy wars in Korea and Vietnam, and domestic anti-communism. At home, the Civil Rights Movement fought segregation, while feminism, environmentalism, and protest culture challenged norms. Finally, from 1980 to now, Reagan’s conservative revolution reshaped politics, the Cold War ended, globalization and tech exploded, 9/11 reshaped foreign policy, and debates continue over immigration, civil rights, and America’s role in the world. Boom. That’s APUSH. But still... watch the video :) __________________________ What is Prepworks Education?
