Alcan Highway Side Trip! Atlin, British Columbia
In this episode, Laura and I continue south on our Northern BC/ Yukon RV trip (September 2024). We take a side trip off the Alaska Highway into Northern British Columbia and spend three days exploring the historic town of Atlin. Rich in 1898 Gold Rush history and nestled on the eastern shore of beautiful Atlin Lake, this is one of the most beautiful places on Earth! We invite you to join us as we explore: The Fairbanks Dipper Dredge, used to dig ditches for hydraulic mining and power. The Powerhouse , used to generate power for dredging/ mining operations in the area. The Boulder Dam, used for hydraulic mining operations. Canada's Shortest Railroad, used to transport passengers and freight to Atlin, "Switzerland of the North" from the turn of the century, through the 1920s. An old cemetery and local geography. Hike with us up Monarch Mountain. Enjoy beautiful mountain scenery and drone footage as we hike, boat, and side by side.
