Alan Stubbs Special: Everton Career, Honest about Moyes & Cancer Diagnosis | Goodison Park: My Home
#EFC #EvertonFootballClub #evertonfc
Alan Stubbs, the captain who led Everton to fourth place in 2004/05 – their highest ever Premier League position – is the latest guest on Goodison Park: My Home. A lifelong Evertonian from Kirkby, Stubbs was a passionate match-going Blues supporter as a youngster and was also on the club’s books as a boy, but his professional career started down the East Lancs Road with Bolton Wanderers.
The former centre-half recalls his breakthrough spell with the Trotters, an attempt by Everton to sign him – that he didn’t know about until years later – his big move to Celtic, including some poignant revelations about his cancer battles, and finally getting the chance to join his beloved Blues in his 30th year.
Stubbs enjoyed two separate spells at Goodison Park, regretting the circumstances which prompted him to quit in between, while he also lifts the lid on some of the great characters he played alongside, such as Paul Gascoigne and Wayne Rooney, as well as offering a candid take on David Moyes’ evolving managerial methods.
