ABIDE SEMINAR Studying with Animals - Panel I - Affordances and Challenges (Part 1)
Recording of February 27, 2025, ABIDE seminar.
The seminar Studying with Animals: Critical Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence was organized by Verónica Policarpo, PI of ABIDE (ICS-ULisboa), and Jussara Rowland (ICS-ULisboa) and took place online, on Zoom.
The seminar aimed to reflect and discuss the uses of Artificial Intelligence on research, and particularly with animals in the center of research. The seminar counted with the invited speakers Niko Sirmpilatzem (Sainsbury Wellcome Centre, University College London), Sevasti-Melissa Nolas (Child Photography Archive e Conselheira de Ética do ABIDE) and Julie Urbanik (PanWorks Fellow e Conselheira de Ética do ABIDE). It also counted with the participation of Kuai Shen, who discussed the opportunities and challenges of using AI in the project ABIDE.
This part was presented by Niko Sirmpilatzem, who integrated the Panel I – Affordances and Challenges, moderated by Jussara Rowland.
