A Lost Vermeer?
Is an unknown Vermeer painting hidden in storage in an American museum? In 2023, a Dutch scholar argued that a painting at the Philadelphia Museum of Art was actually by Johannes Vermeer. The painting was previously thought to be a copy of a Vermeer painting, The Guitar Player, which is at London's Kenwood House. In this video I review the arguments pro and con. See below for more information about the controversy. And, my apologies for the confusing labels at 2:41. Once a YouTube is published, you can't change it without taking it down and staring over.
