The last leg of the trip took them to Dubrovnik. Among those aboard the flight was US Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, a close friend and political ally of President Clinton. Their aircraft was a specially outfitted 737 military jet and the crew were all experienced military personnel. As they neared the airport, rain made the journey increasingly difficult.
