BEST 80s (89 90) Mix 3: Soul II Soul, Bassomatic, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Milli Vanilli, Public Enemy
One of my favourite musical periods, the creativity of the 80s with the influences of Soul, House and Hip-Hop all fused together in a fantastic melting pot of club culture. Soul-II-Soul and Funky Drummer beats mixed with Italian and European Club music, with just a touch of Manchester Indie Rave. I used to be found most nights in the Blackpool town centre. Either at Just Ji's, where my old friend Gavin Taylor inducted me into the new club culture, or chillin' at Yates's in Talbot Square (which the photograph shows - but burnt down years ago!) or in the Oz Backroom. And pretty much always with my bestie Leon Kershaw (aka DJ Goo) RIP. The best times were had by all who were there! Leon, you always were a star!! 💫
