6522 I/O Multiplexing - How to connect lots of devices to one 6522 VIA

At first it's easy to just connect devices straight up to the port pins of the 6522, but if you want to connect a lot of devices you're going to run out of pins. This video shows how you can share the same data pins with many devices, and especially how you can adapt devices that aren't designed to do this, using bus transceivers like the 74HCT245.
