Tumen City, located in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, is a border city between China and North Korea and serves as China’s second largest overland border crossing with North Korea. The Tumen River forms the natural boundary between China and North Korea. One day, I ventured away from the typical tourist spots and journeyed alone deep into a border village along the Tumen River: Qingrong Village. It’s almost impossible to find any information about Qingrong Village online, and no one has documented this village before. Qingrong Village is situated right beside the Tumen River, with North Korea's northernmost administrative region just across the water. This is one of the most remote villages in China. I explored various corners of the village, spoke with residents, and listened to their untold stories about life on the China-North Korea border. Hello, I am 阿树 Atlas.
