3 MONTH TIMELAPSE: EVERYTHING Built On Our Homestead In Rural Italy 🇮🇹 We’re Emily and Roberto — a couple who swapped our comfortable lives in Switzerland for 5 acres of wild land in Southern Italy. With no prior experience, we dove headfirst into the world of off-grid living to get closer to nature, grow our own food and learn everything we can about permaculture, DIY renovation and self-sufficiency. What we lack in expertise, we make up for in determination (and jokes). This is the beginning of our journey toward being off the grid, building a simple, sustainable life & living off the land. Over the past 3 months, we’ve been slowly and steadily building our off-grid homestead from the ground up in Rural Italy. In this 3 month timelapse, we’re sharing every major project we’ve taken on so far — including clearing years of overgrowth and building an off-grid water system, to starting our first compost and planting grass to fight erosion — and creating a cosy tiny home (on a budget) from the ground up. No machines, no shortcuts — just two pairs of hands, a lot of courage and a vision to turn this wild land into a peaceful, sustainable homestead. We often attempt to use old-ways of working (where we can), repurposing materials & getting hands on with nature. Here’s everything we built on the homestead in 3 months: 🏡 Installed an off-grid water system 🌞 Built a sun-sail using reclaimed materials 🌱 Cleared overgrown land & started our compost 🏚️ Began clearing two of our three abandoned stone houses 🪴 Planted grass seeds to help prevent erosion 🔥 Replaced an old fireplace & installed a new one 🛏️ Renovated our tiny house living room & bedroom 🫒 Pruned olive trees & built a trellis for our grapevine In this timelapse video we show you 3 months in 20 minutes - incredibly hard to condense!
