A few months ago, I bought a 2024 KTM 790 Adventure out of pure spite. I have spent years denigrating KTM bikes and talking crap about their lack of reliability, and I decided that it was finally time for me to actually put my money where my mouth is and buy one so I could do an extended 2024 KTM 790 Adventure review. All the while, I've been hoping that this thing would let me down so that I could be proven right and vindicate my badmouthing the Austrian brand.
Unfortunately, This 790 Adventure keeps exceeding my expectations. When you compare this thing KTM 790 Adventure vs Honda Transalp and KTM 790 Adventure vs Tenere 700, there really is no competition. This 790 Adventure might be the best value in adventure motorcycling. It's packed with features like off road abs and cornering traction control that you just can't get on any other bike for less than $15000.
This 2024 (and the previous 2023) KTM Adventure is a powerhouse of a machine. The only drawback, and it's a huge one, is the elephant in the room: poor KTM reliability, particularly KTM 790 camshaft and dirt ingestion issues.
Still...This bike simply is more fun than any other comparable bike...so I'm starting to see why KTM owners are less concerned with reliability than I thought they should be...
