In this lesson, you will learn about the rational root theorem of Algebra, which states that all possible rational roots of any polynomial can be found using a simple rule outlined in the theorem.
We identify the factors of the trailing term and divide them by the factors of the leading term to find all possible rational roots. Then we must check each possibility to find the rational roots of the polynomial.
We might also have to use synthetic division to find other roots after we have exhausted the possibilities given in the rational root theorem.
