$1500 of SSDs in a Mac Pro.... with a Sonnet 4x4 M.2 Silent
In this video, I review the Sonnet 4x4 M.2 Silent by doing the most stupid thing imaginable: Sticking it in a Mac Pro 2008, This is part review, part explainer on Apple's (mis)handling of PCIe on the Mac platform. Sonnet M2 4x4 Silent https://amzn.to/4hEjO7w WD_black SN850x SSDs https://amzn.to/3WH1LoV Sonnet 4x4 M.2 Silent - Installing the card is brain dead easy, it’s plug and play. https://www.sonnetstore.com/products/sonnet-m2-4x4-pcie-card-silent Bonus video: https://www.patreon.com/posts/skirting-around-102731765?cid=135769889 As a refresher, PCIe slots use pairs of wires for sending a receiving data. One pair is one lane. 4x PCIe slot has 4 sets of wires which means it has 4 lanes. More lanes equals more data, and this card can address 16x lanes, hence 4 SSDs.
