This model railway layout, built in HO scale (1/87), is one of the older public model railroad layouts in Germany. The miniature world was continuously constructed, designed and expanded by Jürgen Horn between 2000 and 2009. In 2009, the model rail layout was completed and opened to the public. Since then, it is called “Modellbahnland Hessisch Lichtenau”.
The model train layout covers an area of 140 square meters or nearly 1,500 square feet and impresses with its attention to detail. The different landscapes and sections, which range from the sea to the Alps, are connected by 400 meters of Märklin tracks and rails, that run through tunnels, over mountains and over bridges. There are 28 model trains circulating through realistic landscapes, impressive mountains and beautifully designed villages.
