12 Do’s & Don’ts for Large Group Family Photos

Do: Get a good photographer that can create fun poses and genuine smiles. Do: Choose a location that will not distract from the people in the photo. Do: Choose the best time of day. Golden hour, just before sunset has soft and warm lighting. Do: Wear comfortable clothing you feel confident in. Solid colors are best. Do: Before the photo shoot, remind your family that this is an important time to follow directions and pay attention. Do: Bribes are encouraged. Bring candy or treats that won’t make a mess like gummy bears. Do: Take your time and enjoy the moment. These memories will last forever. Do: Bring back up clothes in case someone gets dirty or you want a different look. Do: Step away from the group if you start to feel irritated. Do: Be ready to put on a show for the kids so they will smile and look at the camera.
