I returned to one of my favourite cities in the world, Istanbul in Turkey. A city that I never get tired of exploring. And I never get tired of eating their tasty Turkish food either.
As I'd been invited to a Turkish wedding, and my suitcase holds nothing but casual clothes, a shopping trip was in order.
I visited the famous Grand Bazaar, intending to buy everything I need for my wedding outfit, but I didn't find anything there.
All I ended up buying inside the Grand Bazaar was a bottle of Ayran, which cost an astonishing 120 lira ($3.50 USD.)
It turned out that the shops outside the bazaar had more of what I needed, and at much more reasonable prices.
One of the shop owners told me he's a viewer of my channel and he kindly gifted me a scarf and helped me find a good shirt from a shop that specialises in shirts.
There were many shops that specialise in one item, and I found those to be the best option when buying a particular item. So I found a trouser specialist store to buy my trousers.
There's plenty of knockoff designer brands available in these shops, like Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, but I find the unbranded or local brands to be of a higher quality.
Half my mission of buying a wedding outfit was successful, and I rewarded myself by eating Adana kebab and kunefe at a famous restaurant called 'Şırdancı Mehmet' outside of the tourist area.
The next day I found some nice black shoes and a leather belt in one shop, and with 500 lira left of my shopping budget I spent it on a big box of luxury lokum AKA tasty turkish delights.
With my mission fully successful, I rewarded myself with some Buryan at another popular restaurant. Buryan is chopped lamb meat in some bread, with no sauce, because they must use the most premium and juicy lamb meat, so that it's already super tasty. Yum yum!
