The 4 basic components of any road test are: 1) speed management 2) space management 3) observations 4) communication To be successful on a road test you must manage both speed of the vehicle, and space around the vehicle. On a road test, you must drive: 1) the posted speed limit 2) the speed of the traffic flow 3) the capability of the vehicle WHICH EVER IS LESS! And you must drive to the conditions of the road. If there is high pedestrian traffic, or it is snowing or raining you will reduce speed. For space management, you must maintain a good distance from other road users and fixed objects. Observation is a key component of a road test. You must shoulder check two times for every turn and every time you move the vehicle laterally.
